ALEC October Challenge Theme

All of us have experienced those singular moments in time when something springs out at us unexpectedly, startling us or frightening us badly – or even turning our world upside-down. This month's challenge is to discover those moments that jolt, jar, disrupt, disconcert, startle, frighten, or terrify folks in Middle-earth.

A Long Expected Contest(ALEC) is a contest for Tolkien fandom writers. It will include stories that are rated G-NC17 and can be Slash, Het, or General. In other words - all genre's of the Tolkien fandom! Stories do not necessarily have to include canon characters but must take place somewhere within Tolkien's world as described in The Silmarillion, The Hobbit, or The Lord of the Rings.
