Well, Hubby and I had ordered the boxed set of Broadchurch Series 2 from the UK, and we finally finished the entire series last night. We'd thought to finish Sunday, Tuesday, but we ended up watching Episodes 5 thru 7, ending on the horrible cliffhanger at the end of that one.

General consensus here at the Aeärwen house: Broadchurch is extremely well-written. It draws the viewer in and then keeps them guessing with twists, turns and red herrings galore. We are definitely looking forward to Series 3, which will be the end of the story.

For me to say more will require putting it under the cut, for those in the US still trapped waiting for BBCA's broadcast to conclude. Spoiler alert for material under the cut!!! )

So that's Broadchurch Series 2. I understand Olivia Coleman - Ellie Miller - is pregnant in real life right now, so I assume they won't start filming Series 3 until after she has her baby. I guess now we wait until 2017, because it took 2 years from Series 1 to Series 2.

Let the fan fiction speculations begin!! I'm almost tempted to try my hand at one that picks up from where we leave off and explores what I think (and dread) happening.

Just what I need: another insistent plot-bunny nibbling at the back of my mind, just as I start to try to be serious about my O-fic Idago.

*sigh*

Until next time...

Hey [livejournal.com profile] sykira!! Have you seen this yet??

I just about died laughing.

I'm certain that not everyone who reads here is interested in Broadchurch and/or Gracepoint. So, for the benefit of those folks, I'll put the rest of this under the cut.

What I REALLY think of Gracepoint, the US remake of Broadchurch )

So there ye go.

Needless to say - again - I'll be anxiously awaiting Broadchurch 2 on BBCA. Now that looks to be as good as the original.

Just saw a REAL and decent trailer for this, and to say I'm really stoked is a masterpiece of understatement. The first series was nothing less than brilliant, and now that I have some idea what the next one will include, I think I can be pretty sure that it won't lose anything in the addition.

My feelings on the US remake, entitled Gracepoint, will come after tonite's finale episode.

But I just had to say...

Hey [livejournal.com profile] sykira, have you seen this yet?

Truth be told, this is copied from my comments to [livejournal.com profile] sensiblecat's posting on Broadchurch. After I posted it, I looked at it and thought that I'd managed to say, in the comments to somebody else, just about everything I'd want to say in a post of my own on the show. So, without further ado and with only a few, minor tweaks...

Spoiler-free review of Broadchurch's final episode under the cut )

I know that this show is extremely popular in the UK, but I wonder how many of my f-list (especially those of us in the US) who have tuned in and watched it? I'm extremely grateful to [livejournal.com profile] sykira for showing me where to watch it online, because I'm surely as hooked as anyone on the other side of the pond.

This is a wonderful whodunit, with a seemingly endless supply of suspects, red herrings, twists and turns, and secrets to be unearthed. Most American TV shows don't bother to go this deeply into the characters - and I'm finding that I really enjoy a drama that provides me with characters that are more than cardboard cut-outs by the end. I also really enjoy that this story is taking eight weeks to be fully told, and not simply wrapping itself up in an hour or two.

I don't have HBO or SHO, so I have to wait for Netflix to pick up new seasons of their offerings. But this one I can watch virtually at the same time the folks in Britain do. I really recommend this one - and I don't normally recommend TV shows, as you folks know. Besides which, it doesn't hurt that David Tennant is in it, and does a wonderful job with the nuanced role he was given.

Anyhoo, in case anybody's interested, here's the link to the first episode:

Broadchurch - Episode One

Episodes One thru Seven are currently available at that site. Needless to say, I'm gonna buy this one when it finally hits Region 1 DVD - or else I'll just have to go out and buy a DVD player that reads Region 2 discs. Yes, it really is that good.

And thanks again, [livejournal.com profile] sykira, for providing me with a new obsession.
