And here is a drabble for your weekend enjoyment:



Through Eldarion's childhood, and even those years of his youth that he'd spent in Imladris with them and their regal and reclusive grandfather, his uncles had symbolized joy and happiness, greeting him and his sisters with huge smiles and bubbling laughter.

This visit was different. Had his mother's passing been that difficult for them?

Their gazes were loving but somber, their smiles wide but with a layer of sadness that made Eldarion ask worriedly. "Is all well with you?"

As usual, Elladan spoke first. "We are here to bid you farewell. We sail with the next ship into the West."

Oh Ouch! I really wished they didn't have to leave! But I suppose that they were here a very long time indeed, and wished to see their Ada and Nana once more - this time for good.

Loved this chapter, and really loved how you conveyed everything with what Elladan said.

I can't help but imagine that Eldarion went through a good bit of sorrow at losing so much of HIS family at once: both parents at practically the same time, and then both uncles only a bit of time after.

I remember this one! It's still very evokative. A final leave-taking is bound to be somber.

Yes. And I can't help but wonder how well Eldarion took it. I just drabbled on the idea - but I'm not sure the plot bunny was satisfied. The last thing I need is another WIP... :-p
