NaNo - Day 9
Nov. 9th, 2013 02:04 pmHad a lovely time at coffee this morning. A group of my friends and I, my hubby and (when he's around) JJ get together at 8AM on Saturday mornings at a local coffee deli. Today only Ron and Nashoma were there, but it was great seeing them again. Evidently Nashoma had been ill last week. (For those who don't know, Nashoma was my cohort in the piano/organ duet team until nerve damage made her participation sketchy. I miss our practices greatly, lemme tell ya!)
Then we took off to do a spot of shopping at Walmart. Yes, I know. I wish that we didn't have to shop at Walmart, but when money is tight, one goes where the dollar stretches the furthest.
JJ wasn't with us this morning. He took off on the regional area transit bus to visit another learning disabled friend in SLO. Friend would really like it if JJ came up every Saturday, but that's just too much of a good thing. Friend is even more impulsive and scattered than JJ is; and while I don't mind the friendship, I'd just as soon keep the influence to as much of a minimum as possible.
Now that my NaNo word count is finished for the day, I'm gonna have to spend some time on the piano bench. I forgot entirely that I have to play for the Theosophical temple tomorrow - and somehow figure out something to play for a solo. Good thing those folks like the New Age piano music I have - I should be able to find something reasonably quickly.
Ah yes. According to Nashoma (who got it from Dave, another Halcyon friend) rumor has it that the little Christmas play has been cancelled for this year. Not that I'm all that surprised, or even dismayed, at the news. We really didn't have enough rehearsals left before performance date to do the project justice. I'll keep the 2PM appointment tomorrow, however, and get the news directly from the Big Cheese before I'll buy into it 100%.
The thing is: we now have the play completely written, the music all purchased and copies printed. If we should decide to try to do it again next year, so much of what put us on a late program won't be an issue. And, in the meanwhile, we can continue to make the plans for the two to four other programs we'll be putting on eventually.
FINALLY the Dear Boy has figured out that doing the prep work far in advance is A Good Thing!!
For those paying attention, today's word count:
19229 / 50000 words. 38% done!
Tomorrow's a designated no-progress day - so we'll see if I get anything written at all. Not ruling it out completely, but I've also got a Broadchurch fic (a new one,
sykira) that has decided to push on me. Wish my Muse would stay focused on Phoenix, and not find other "squirrels" to chase after!!
