I'm sitting here, looking out my wide-open back door at an absolutely gorgeous California Springtime morning. The sky is crystal blue without a single cloud in sight. My grape arbor is lush with new growth and the very beginnings of this year's crop already starting. The orange trees in our "back-backyard" are loaded with blossoms as well as green and ripe fruit, as is the ancient lemon tree near the front. The poinsettia is already about two and a half feet tall, and looks like it will be nice and bushy this year.

I have two pots of irises to put out sometime before I leave for Oregon this coming Thursday, one a very dark blue and the other a bright, happy yellow. I love irises, almost as much as I love lilacs. Speaking of which, my one surviving lilac bush may be considerably shorter than in previous years, but the foliage is nice and healthy and definitely much happier now that the huge jade plant that was crowding it out is gone. Maybe that means that next year, I'll actually get to enjoy some blossoms as Spring comes again – I sure hope so. This year I had none, and I missed them.

I've got a nice get-together with my old college roommate this afternoon to look forward to. I don't get to see her very often, as she lives about three hours away over a narrow and heavily-travelled highway over the Coastal Mountains. But she and her daughter are in the area, and we're all getting together in a coffee shop midways between where she's staying and where I am. I expect I may be late to supper, because when the two of us get together, we start talking and can talk for the better part of a day before we know it.

My Muse is still cooperating with me, which is a treat after all this time of drought. I have a couple of thousand words before the next chapter of IDD is ready for the Lizards, and I'm a chapter ahead of myself with the DW fic. I'm debating starting to post IDD publically, if doing so would be a motivating factor. But I'm really leery of doing so - the last thing I want to do is leave my readers in the lurch if the Muse decides to take a powder again. The DW fic won't be half as long or complicated, and I already know where I want the plot to go as far as climax and denouement is concerned; now all I have to do is just get the thing written.

So, all in all, I'm in a pretty good place in life. I'm looking forward to seeing Squeek in a little less than a week, and getting to know the Eugene, OR area better. Gonna be taking lots of pictures, so may spam you all when I get back... (not sure if that's a threat or a promise; guess you'll have to stay tuned...) :-D

Ahhh you make Ca sound so beautiful. At least compared to the murky skies of the east coast today.
I hope your visit was wonderful, nothing quite like an old friend :)
