I keep hearing about this far too late to actually DO anything about it - much less actually participate. This year, however, I've got about 24-hours' worth of warning. So I thought I'd post about it here, hoping to reach a whole bunch of folks I don't reach on FaceBook (my only other social media outlet).

Earth Hour 2012 Information

Taken from the YouTube site at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FovYv8vf5_E&feature=share with much gratitude to Salwa El-Tawil, my delightful and good friend in Cairo, Egypt, for the heads-up:

"This Earth Hour 2012: 8.30pm, Saturday 31 March, celebrate your action for the planet with the people of world by switching off your lights for an hour, then go beyond the hour.

From its inception as a single-city initiative -- Sydney, Australia - in 2007, Earth Hour has grown into a global symbol of hope and movement for change. Earth Hour 2011 created history as the world's largest ever voluntary action with people, businesses and governments in 135 countries across every continent coming together to celebrate an unambiguous commitment to the one thing that unites us all -- the planet."

I'mma gonna dood it. Hope some of you will too.

My family and I played Yahtzee by candle light. We discovered last year that it's impossible to play Uno in dim light; you can't tell the blue from the green.

It was fun. We all had to talk to each other because no one could be distracted by the computer or the gaming consoles.
