Animals most certainly do have feelings. Spike, our orange tabby, is still grieving the death of Amneris, his special feline friend for ten years.
For some reason, he decided that Amneris was going to take the place of his mother (he had three perfectly good sisters to cuddle with) and Amneris let him. She couldn't lie down without Spike curling himself into her belly. She died last year at the age of fifteen, and poor Spike has been bereft.
