RANT: Golden Quills Awards - UPDATE
Mar. 5th, 2010 10:22 amMore LotR fandom issues being discussed here. Unless you are interested, you might want to move along to the next entry on your friends page. I'm not responsible for any boredom or exasperation or eye-rollage to be caused by the following.

Well, at least the light of day being aimed at WendWriter and her Golden Quills Awards' hidden agenda has convinced her that maybe being sneaky and using other, innocent, people to "get back" at those she dislikes isn't the best idea:

(read the comments on that one, and then...)

Now, if she had just been honest about this being an exclusionary awards program to begin with, I would never have participated in the first place, never made a single nomination, nor felt it necessary to throw a public fit.
These are her awards, and she is allowed to tailor them as she sees fit. If she is honest and up front about not wanting these five people involved in any way, then a person can make an informed decision as to whether or not they wish to participate. There is no skullduggery, no "let's not tell anybody else" about it. That, my friends, is where the unprofessionalism and unethical nature of her actions lay, and why I felt it necessary to do what I did.
Therefore, as far as I'm concerned, her coming out of the closet and ADMITTING that her awards are not-everybody, means this matter is finished. The moment she changes the front page of her awards program to reflect the exclusionary policy she's adopted, I would appreciate it if the discussion of this particular matter would cease.
Thank you.

Date: 2010-03-05 10:10 pm (UTC)She also didn't post the names of those banned from participation to the awards site. I have officially withdrawn my request for the drama to cease.
We're exchanging very terse notes here in LJ, but I'm not backing down. Until all possibility of future unethical behavior on her part is make moot, I will do nothing to knock down discussion.
And I told her that her f-locking things merely tells me she's ashamed of what she wrote - AFTER she challenged me to go thru her LJ and show her things. What kind of an idiot does she take me for?
On second thought, don't answer that. She has no idea how her actions look when put in the spotlight. If she did, she'd cringe.

Date: 2010-03-05 11:09 pm (UTC)Wendwriter to SurgicalSteel: Please note I recruited a sum total of zero people and not one single person went to them and did what you're doing now.
I strenuously dispute that. And I wish those she attempted to sway had come to me for my side of it.

Wendy used to f-lock posts and then recently some had been taken off the lock. I predict she will open them up once again when she feels the needs to prove a point. Or once this "blows over and is forgotten" to paraphrase one of her blog posts.

Well, that would probably be for the best. Nothing wrong with running a contest for your friends - as long as everybody knows(!) that it's only for these favoured few. :-/

That is very true. I believe Wendy is psychologically unable to see what she is doing, and she cannot understand that people are using their own brains to assess the situation. She has talked down to me like to a slightly stupid child on a number of occasions, telling me that I simply don't understand. I confess that there are some things I don't understand, like nuclear physics, civil engineering and accountancy, but to imply that I can't understand what she is writing and draw my own conclusions from it is a slur on my intellect. And yet, I put up with it for, oh, a very long time.

Date: 2010-03-06 05:35 pm (UTC)You did, and for that I thank you. I do worry about some of the other people I saw commenting uncritically on her Live Journal when she gave her definitely twisted version of events. And there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it without looking like a major-league wanker.

Date: 2010-03-06 05:42 pm (UTC)She, erm, only locked the one brought to her attention. And I predict that one will go public again, since she needs non-lj members to be able to view it. It's her 'proof'.
I doubt she will ever unlock the recent post with Dawn's, Steel's and Raksha's input. She wasn't exactly winning that debate.
It's very ironic that if she had just f-locked the 'Fred and Rose West' entry none of this would have happened.

Iggy - NiRi gave me that icon last night when I mentioned my post lol
