I can't believe it! I have another headcold!! *headdesk* Life just isn't fair right now!!

But there was really only one candidate for this card:

Frodo stood at the stern of the ship, watching the land slowly vanish.

He hadn't expected to come home from that blasted Quest at all, and he'd been correct. The Shire, still populated by the same people he had known since faunthood, had changed during his absence; he had seen too much. The Shire wasn't home anymore, and it hurt too much to pretend. So, when the time came, he simply turned everything over to Sam and joined the Elves heading to the sea.

Bilbo called this another adventure, but Frodo had no illusions. He was losing everything, at last.

Well done! Not sure what I thought was going to be used for this prompt. You did catch me by surprise - I would have thought you would used Boromir or Haldir though...

Hope you feel better soon!
Hugs,
Vanime

That ending of RotK, when Frodo sailed over to Valinor, nearly killed me. It is such an ambiguous ending with so many changes, losses, open questions and possibilities. I'd like to think that Frodo found some healing and contentment in the undying lands. After 61 long years, his dear friend and gardener finally goes there and hopefully joins him.
