The WIP meme (2012 edition)

It's time again for participating in the WIP meme, where this time around I'm to post the first sentence (or two or three) from my WIPs. This year, I'm snitching this meme from heartofoshun. The thing is, at least one of these WIPs has been partially posted in here - so for that one, I'll post the first sentence of an upcoming (and thus unposted) chapter, rather than the very first bit.

As usual, most of these are novel-length pieces, with only a couple of one-shots.

So, if you ever wonder what I'm doing when I just kinda disappear writing-wise, I'm most likely working on one of the above. Either that or I'm up to my epaulettes in music. I do intend to finish all of these - I'm just not making promises as to when.
