How to write a private message on LJ? Easy? NOT ON YOUR LIFE!!!

I'm getting pissed.

There are times I want to write a private message to one of my f-list; and do you think that LJ makes it easy to find the link to open the message window?

No.

I look, and I look - and very rarely, I stumble over the proper set of clicks to get me where I want to go.

But never when I *NEED* to do it.

C'mon, LJ!! Is it so bloody hard to put a "leave a private message" link somewhere OBVIOUS?!?!?!?!

Go to the profile page of said friend and its at the top, on your right ;)But I don't use it very often so I always have to pause and think where it was again..

Rhapsody11 had it best, but I guess it depends on how you approach this. You can hold the mouse over the icon of the person in question and when the pop-up menu appears, do it that way. Might not work that way in Windows of course...

Hehe, I tried that and it didn't work. Then it finally occurred to me that in the settings, I switched off the hover function! *headdesk*

Maybe you did that, too, Aearwen?

I went looking, and ended up playing around with loading up some more avvies instead. I am so lost when it comes to this...

First you go to 'Home'. Then you click 'Account' (at the top). In there, you chose the tab 'Display'. Scroll down a bit and - voila! - there's 'Hover menu'. XD

If it gives you problems, catch me on the chat.

I have some neat ones on my HD - I just don't normally goof around with them much. I may start adding a little variety to my "face", however...

Well, don't!! We've all been there. LJ is not the most user-friendly, IMO, but one gets used to it after a while. ;-)

Did you upload the userpics to LJ, with the URL or whatever? Don't forget to 'save' the page (at the bottom) before you leave it!

When you write post, you can now select a pic from the dropdownlist above the box in which you write (don't mess with the other things up there, at least not just yet).

Of course you can also select pic when you comment - the list's right above the message box.

After fiddling with this, I finally figured out that I needed to hit the "Browse" button.

This one, I think, reflects my mood fairly accurately... :-D

This is one of my pet hates too.If only LJ were designed so that you could mark a reply to a post as private it would make life easier.
