aearwen2: (Sm Sindarin Lady)

Today was a scheduled no-progress day, which was just as well. I had plenty to keep me occupied through the day - and I'm currently writing this as a way of procrastinating on doing a couple more read-thru's on the next chapter of my Pretender fic before posting it. I skipped last weekend (bad Aeärwen!! bad!!!) and really do owe them an update. Still, the chapters on that thing tend to run in at about 8k words each, so the read-thru's to remove my former obsession with using hypens everywhere and to tighten up POV aren't just a quick scan.

Daughter Súl convinced me to attend the final "Art In The Park" in Shell Beach this morning, despite the fact that the changing weather is wreaking havoc with my joints. Got myself an interesting pair of pendants made from old siverware, one stamped "Peace" and the other "Harmony". Last New Year, Súl gifted me with a solitary one stamped "Namasté" that I've worn often. The three would do nicely together, but I think I'll just keep the two I got today together and let "Namasté" continue to be a singleton.

Also, after over two years struggling with food sensitivities of varying strengths, Súl has decided to test out a few to see if they're still affecting her. While shopping at the local organic/health food marts, she found some ground wild boar that she thought she'd handle better than regular pork. And since I make a "Chinese Meatball Wannabee" cassarole with marinated ground pork and chopped Napa cabbage that she'd dearly love to be able to eat, guess what we're having for dinner tomorrow nite? I might even set up some candles and celebrate Diwali a little late...

Finally, a small rant.

As a member of a performing group, I know that it's absolutely essential that the members come to practice regularly and arrive at said practice on time. To drag in fifteen-twenty minutes late, no matter the excuse, is really not very polite or respectful of the time of one's comrades. Well, one of the on-time members of our little Players group (that I've spoken of often in here ) decided to take the late-comer's actions personally - and sound off about it with the tact of a jackhammer. Result: one member walked out in a huff, another was mortified, the rest of us were sitting with our hands over our mouths OR with our heads in our hands. Counting this afternoon, we had eight - count 'em EIGHT - rehearsals before performance during the weekend before Christmas. I'm seriously doubting we'll even DO the play now.

Yes, the gal who sounded off has a point. But her time is no more or less valuable than that of any of the rest of us; and plenty of time had already been put in by myself and the director in writing the play, collecting and printing the music, etc. There is a time and place and way to let the perpetual late-comers know that their thoughtlessness isn't appreciated, and it certainly isn't the way it went down today. The lady with the big mouth is Italian, with an extremely short fuse at the best of times and a tongue like a razorblade. That explains her behavior, but it sure doesn't excuse it.

End of rant.

I'm genuinely looking forward to sitting down first thing tomorrow and continuing with my story. My mind has been actively toying with what scene I'm going to have following the one I ended with yesterday, and whether I'm going to span a good deal of time between where I left off and where I pick up the story again, or whether it will continue on from basically the next day or so.

I'm tired, though. May hit the sack early. Until next time...
