Finishing up the final packing and bustling about before having hubby drive JJ and me up to the train station for our trip to Oregon (hubby is staying at home, because his health really doesn't allow him to travel anymore.) Made a list of stuff I need to take, list has most of the items scratched off as they ended up in suitcase, computer case, or whatever.

Left to do before putting junk in car & splitting: go shopping for munchies for the 22 hr trip - cheese & crackers, chips, maybe some carrot sticks & dip, AND donuts for breakfast tomorrow morning. JJ & I have decided to eat in the dining car for evening meal both going and coming.

We've got ourselves a private compartment, which I've never had before. It will be interesting to see how well I can sleep on the train. JJ wants the top bunk, of course - heck, he's just a big kid after all. Laptop will be at JJ's disposal so he can watch his dvd movies; I have the netbook so I can write and listen to music. I think he's gonna want to watch Dr. Who somewhere along the way - video files of all of Nu-Who are on the external HD. Maybe we'll do that this evening after dinner before bed.

Part of the reason I'm taking this trip is to see whether it's possible for JJ to make the trip on his own. He's great with the public transit busses here in our area, but traveling over 700 miles is something I really don't want him to try alone yet. Still, he misses his twin, and he'd probably want to visit by himself someday. Of course, we'll see what Squeek thinks of that one!!

Didn't get my irises planted yet, so am gonna water them REALLY well before leaving. They're not quite in the shade, so hopefully will last until I get back. Gotta water my indoor stuff too - Súl is going to take care of that for me (because hubby would just forget.)

So, f-list, so long until the 30th. I'll be reading along on my phone, but will probably be running silent until back home.

When I leave on a trip, I leave DH a daily checklist or my fountain would burn out the motor and my plants would die. Checklists are very helpful - LOL. Travel safely and happily and enjoy the trip.

Have a safe trip, and a lovely holiday! I hope the train is comfortable. Better than a car, definitely, you can move about!

Always have a list so that I try not to forget stuff. Will probably make one up there when time comes to head home too.

Almost time to go - talk to you in 2 weeks.

Oh, I'm really looking forward to traveling by train. I did a trip down to Long Beach in business class and thoroughly enjoyed it. I suppose the only thing that I'll have to complain about is Flat Butt Syndrome, but being able to walk around should help with that.

Laterz.

I make no promises, dear, as I seem to be an accident waiting to happen at times...
