This is one of the more enduring relationships in LotR. And probably THE most complex:



It was a dance, one they must have danced many times before, and still fascinating to watch.

She would move away from the center of the celebration, and very little time would pass before he would follow her. Silver and gold would stand close, commenting very quietly on this and that, present and yet apart.

At some point, he would wrap one of those long, golden tendrils around his finger, and she would lean into him, hand on his chest. Eventually, they would vanish.

Lord and Lady of Lothlórien they might be, but when alone together, they were as one.

WOWOW! LOVE this one! Just perfect and of course, you are right, it is one of the most complex relationships in LOTR. Even the beginnings of their existence is complicated because Tolkien changed this, that, and the other...

You know, I never realized how complicated their relationship must have been til now,...I was much younger when I read the LOTR books, matter of fact, I was in junior high school at the time and 13 when I read them. (I think I was the only kid in school who did read them!) Back then, I never gave it a thought, they were just two characters in a book and filled the story in parts for it to continue on...Being older now, and seeing the films, and buying more Tolkien books about the books (HOME series) and reading what others in fan fiction have wrought, it really does bring to the fore their relationship on so many levels.

I really do think that you fulfilled on all those levels, in a short and sweet drabble, all that their relationship was. Well done!
